I'm sorry but the body of evidence does show that the less sexy option of eating fewer calories is favorable to everything else that is packaged and sold as a solution. Yes, you "cut calories' by fixing those things you mentioned first, but the result is still cutting calories. If you treat your depression, for instance, that is great and it might lead to less over-eating, but you can't treat your depression and eat the same calories and lose weight... All of these methods like fasting and keto are just vehicles for calorie control masquerading as something new. They work if you eat fewer calories. This is barely up for debate.
