10 Reasons the #Blockedout Movement Is Hard to Watch

I get it, with great power comes great responsibility.

Unfortunately, very few influencers have earned their massive followings because they’re social justice warriors who wake up every morning with a n action plan for changing the planet.

Typically, they’ve amassed their followings for net neutral things like their looks or humor.

For one reason or another though, they did something that attracted people to them. With few exceptions, most people don’t follow people they dislike.

The #Blockout movement was launched to punish the top influencers with large followings who aren’t throwing their weight and resources around for social change.

The movement started with this now viral TikTok video.

“It’s time to block all the celebrities, influencers and wealthy socialites who are not using their resources to help those in dire need,” the user said in the video viewed more than 1.1 million times as of May 9. “We gave them their platforms, it’s time to take it back, take our views away, our likes our money, by blocking them on all social media and digital platforms
