Your Supporters Are Ruining the Value of Your Opinion

There are few things as powerful as money, fame and acceptance.

Unfortunately, this combination can become so strong of a force that it causes otherwise good people to lie to themselves and others to maintain it.

One of the best (or worst I should say) examples of this is in political commentary. It isn’t limited to politics, but it is absolutely rampant there.

The greater the wealth, fame and admiration you get for your opinions on issues, the more likely you are to deviate from your values and general desire to be “right” on critical issues.

For example, when left alone, free from these external influences, we can easily bounce from one opinion to another.

With no outside influence, we can change our opinions fluidly.

Most of us want to be on the “right side” of issues.

There is a natural desire to want things to be a certain way, but when left alone, we can much more easily form our own, most honest opinions.

There are 1,000s of issues to have opinions on and we know that some times, our first assumptions are incorrect or misguided.
